Ornamental Rhubarb features large, deeply lobed leaves with a green colour on top and a reddish-purple underside. It produces tall flower spikes in early to mid-summer which can be red or pink and rise above the foliage. It prefers consistently moist, well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Used as focal points or as a dramatic statement in borders. Mulching can help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. After flowering the flower stocks can be removed to encourage foliage growth. Attracts bees and butterflies.
