Yellow River features large, heart-shaped leaves that have a bright yellow to chartreuse color, depending on the amount of sunlight they receive. In mid to late summer, this variety produces tall spikes of lavender to white flowers. It does its best in moist, well-drained soil and shade but it can tolerate more sun than many other Hosta varieties. Yellow River is ideal for shade and woodland gardens, with the vibrant yellow brightening up the area. Cleaning up dead leaves in the fall or early spring helps maintain its appearance and health. The flowers can attract pollinators like bees and butterflies.
