Halcyon features heart-shaped, blue-green leaves that are dense and textured, creating a visual impact. In late summer, tall stocks of bell-shaped, lavender flowers rise above the foliage. While this hosta prefers moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter, it is suitable for a wide range of climates. It prefers shaded to partially shaded areas of the garden and is excellent for creating borders and ground covers in low-light areas. Very drought tolerant once established. Every few years, it's a good idea to divide the columps in early spring or late summer to maintain vigor. Mulching can also help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds when in bloom.
