The Male Fern has large, bright green, lance-shaped fronds that are divided into numerous leaflets, giving it a bushy and feathery appearance. This fern is tolerant of a wide range of soil types, if the drainage is adequate. However, it thrives in moist soil that is rich in organic matter. It prefers shady or partly shady areas, so it's ideal in woodland gardens, shaded borders or under trees. When grown in full shade, the fern is drought tolerant. It's primarily used to add texture and greenery. For the best outcome, fertilize once in the spring and mulch to help retain the soil moisture. Deer Resistant.
